New Internal Walkway now has its own
Memorial Picture Disc

As part of the recent safety upgrades at the theatre, a newly formed walkway linking the Balcony stairway to an external safety route has been created, in the event of any emergency, this walkway can be opened to allow people to leave the building more quickly and safely should the need arise. The circular opening and brick wall shown in the image was originally an external part of the theatre building.

As a memorial to all the tradesmen that constructed the then ‘Shanklin Institute’ back in 1878, it was decided that a pictorial dedication would be located on that particular part of the original building. Commissioned by graphic designers ‘Indigo ESP Ltd’ under the direction of Theatre MD Vic Farrow & FOST VC Michael Beston, the picture disc was affixed by the theatre’s maintenance team.
