Shanklin Fund Raising Walk.

READY, STEADY, GO! Our great thanks go to the Theatre Volunteers who completed the Shanklin Fundraising Walk –Sunday 20th September.

Relive 'Shanklin Theatre Fundraising Walk'

After all the ‘extensive’ preparations, our walkers were rearing to start their 10 mile fundraising walk challenge on a glorious Sunday. Due to the latest government regulations, the walkers split into 2 groups to follow the rule of 6.

Starting from Shanklin Theatre, the route follows Shanklin Esplanade, along the boundary with Lake, it then goes through the ancient woodland of America Wood, climbs to Shanklin and Luccombe Downs to the highest point with extensive views of the Bay, descends towards Bonchurch via the Devil’s Chimney (not for the feign hearted!), joins the cliff path surrounded by luxurious vegetation, passes through Luccombe, descends towards Shanklin with magnificent open views encompassing Shanklin and the Bay and finally comes back to Shanklin Theatre. 'You wished you were there!'

Our 2 groups, first one by led Matt Day and the second one by Jacqui Robertson really enjoyed their challenging walk. It was a great opportunity to get chatting while walking with people volunteering for different areas of the Theatre and get to know each other.

Thanks to the tremendous support of the Friends of Shanklin Theatre, Friends and Family of the walkers, the money raised so far is approaching £2000.

The money raised from this event will go towards buying foggers to sanitise the auditorium and back stage, refurbish the perished Green Room floor and post the printed quarterly newsletter to members without email.

Fundraising walking team members were: Heather Witchurch – Jacqui Robertson – Sammantha Cave – Jane Robert – Doreen Sheath & Sue – Sarah Bucher-Jones – Eddy Parsons – Peter Tuppen – Matt Day – Michael Beston.
